Happy Programmer’s day!

Computers, developing technology and software make the modern world go around but behind every piece of clever software stands a programmer (and rather often teams of programmers) behind the scenes, solving problems with clever code, cloud security solutions, and intense development projects. Now we can spare a thought for these digital pioneers on Programmers' Day- a day to celebrate Programmers and thank them for all that they do! Let us greet the geeks who made our world so cool by inventing eBay & Amazon, iPhones & Androids, your laptop's cool software, your GPS, Google, Netflix, PayPal, credit card processing, 911 emergency databases, parts of cars/trains/planes/ships and pretty much everything that has a power button on it!

['hip','hip']
(hip hip array!)

Congratulations to all programmers with programmer's day! So sing along with us this Programming Song:

99 little bugs in the code

99 bugs in the code

patch one down, compile it around

117 bugs in the code!

Short History

Programmer Day is the 256th day of every year, September 13thor the 12th on leap years, chosen because this is the number of distinct values that can be represented with an eight-bit byte, and the highest power of two which is less than 365. Pedants might notice that the binary representation of 1111 1111 is actually 255, making Programmers' Day 24 hours late. But as any good programmer knows well, this ignores the use of zero as a value. Programmers' Day might sound to you like something that's been made up as a way to get coders out early for the weekend, but it is an officially recognized holiday in Russia and it is starting to accumulate popularity all over the world. In 2009, the government of Russia declared the day to be a professional holiday and set the date as September 13th (September 12th on leap years). Luckily this year the festive will be on Saturday, so there won't be any developers suffering from hangover at work.

What is an IT Specialist?

Programmer (also known as developer or software engineer) is the person who solves a problem you didn't know you had and in a way you don't understand. Programming today seems to be a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

How to spend Programmers Day

Instead of regarding it as a lighthearted joke, or an opportunity to have some fun, perhaps we should take it more seriously. The main issue with Programmer's Day might be that not many programmers seem to know much about it. Are you a programmer who wasn't even aware that you have a special day? What a pity! This is most likely because the well-known greetings card manufacturers haven't spotted an commercialized opportunity to make some extra income and what does that tell you about the idea of a day to celebrate programming? Definitely, that this day needs a huge shout out! So if you know a programmer slaving away somewhere, take the time to wish them Happy holiday and maybe serve them a cocktail or two. It's only once a year – and without programmers we'd all be somewhat stymied. Don`t be shy- hug a programmer!
