Penguin 3.0 seems to finally be here! Some useful information to consider.

For the last few days the marketing forums are buzzing like an overpopulated bee hive and SEO’s around the world are gossiping about the major changes that seem to be around the corner. Namely, the arrival of the long-awaited update of the Penguin algorithm, version 3.0. As usual the Google High Council is still keeping quiet about it but the fluctuations that have been observed for the last couple of days are too unusual to be considered “normal”. I also double-checked on some websites I’ve been observing and although they did not experience any major changes, the sites around them have shuffled a lot. Too much to be blamed on normal algorithm circumstances… (more…)

Let’s talk about #Inequality…in Web Hosting

Today, once again, for the 7th year in a roll, all bloggers around the world are invited to participate in Blog Action Day 2014. This year we are talking about #Inequality.

Inequality

By definition inequality is a difference in any particular factor – be it size, weight, social status, degree etc. Each and every one of us has come across a form of inequality – educational, economical, in gender, social, racial…as much as humans can understand the value of balance, they just cannot seem to achieve it. And that’s not necessarily bad, we are such diverse beings that putting us under one common denominator would simply not work in most cases. Being a web hosting company we would like to share our views on the most frequent occurrences of injustice we observe and why should they be tackled.

Quack Ahoy vol.2 : The Dehydrated Quacks

The end of September came again and with it – our hometown’s Charity Week with all its wonderful events and causes. Just like last year, WebHostFace gladly contributed to the cause and yet again, the rubber duck race across the river was the most awaited event by adults and children alike. This time around, the collected funds from the race are to be invested in the Children’s Railway – a remarkable ride located on one of our hills which goes on short trips around interesting sights for the youngest. Its last stop should be rebuilt with added lighting and security cameras, reviving this joy ride from the dust and bringing fond memories from our generation when the railway tours were in full steam.

New vulnerability in WordPress and Drupal – What does it mean for your website?

Just as I released my latest article about the Top 10 Vulnerable WordPress Plugins, a new concern about the security of WordPress powered websites appeared, as if to confirm my previous impressions. SalesForce.com’s security researcher Nir Goldschlager discovered a PHP-level vulnerability that could result in denial of service (DoS) attacks. The exploit in question is a variant of a XML-RPC Entity Expansion (XEE) method, best described as a more effective version of the “Billions Laugh” attack. (more…)

Top 10 Vulnerable WordPress Plugins

Hey Guys!

Spending the majority of my time online, I often encounter all kinds of “Top N-list of Something-Something” so I decided it was about time to dip my own toes in such type of article. Let’s see how this one takes off 🙂

My natural starting point is yet again WordPress. WordPress’ biggest selling point is, in my humble opinion, the astonishingly huge selection of free plugins available from the WordPress.org repository. While one shouldn’t simply ignore the importance of the WordPress core itself as well as the ease with which one can change up your design with themes, it is plugins that equip us with the ability to achieve just about anything. WordPress 3.9 is out and Looking Fancy

There are so many reasons to love WordPress . From the user-friendly interface to the thousands of widgets, from the enhanced functionality to the vast and helpful community, really there is so much to adore. One thing makes it extra appealing to me tho – the developers seem to love jazz music just as much as I do and they acknowledge that by naming their updates after well-known jazz musicians. WordPress 3.9 is no difference – coming out with code name “Smith” it is a wink to the infamous Jimmy Smith, who was the revolutionary behind the strong use of the organ in jazz. Just like he brought such colorful diversity in music, WordPress 3.9 wants to be the innovator in website building. (more…)

Tips and Tricks: Choosing CRM for Your Small Business

For quite a while after the first Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system was introduced back in the early 1990s, this type of software was considered viable only for large companies with thousands of clients. As time passed and its development intensified, it became more and more lucrative for a larger scope. The benefits for small and medium businesses soon became obvious and companies started looking into those solutions for improving their service and increasing productivity.
